About planes.fyi
An experimental project by rydercalmdown
planes.fyi is something I've been tinkering with in one form or another for a couple of years — part playground, part long-running experiment in how we can see and understand what's happening in the sky.
Earlier versions have included livestreaming cameras pointed at busy airports, AI models listening to and transcribing air traffic control, and different visualizations of traffic patterns and aircraft behavior. This version focuses on an interactive 3D map, rich airport context, and deep aircraft data, all stitched together into something that feels alive.
It's very much a work in progress. Expect rough edges, sharp corners, and the occasional broken thing as the project evolves.
