How it works, in about five minutes

Create a free Toasty screen

Sign up at Toasty.so and create a named “screen” with its own unique URL.

Open it on your projector

Open your screen URL full-screen on the device connected to your projector, then aim the projector straight up at the ceiling and dim the room.

Choose Overhead Air Traffic

Use your phone as a remote, pick “Overhead Air Traffic,” and set your location, range, and visual style — sprites with glowing trails or a rotating radar sweep.

How to Project Airplanes on Your Ceiling

The setup takes about five minutes:

  1. Create a free screen on Toasty.so — each one gets its own unique URL.
  2. Open that URL full-screen on the device connected to your projector.
  3. Aim the projector straight up at the ceiling, dim the room, and adjust the focus.
  4. Use your phone as a remote, choose “Overhead Air Traffic,” and tune the location, range, and visual style to taste.

How It Works

It all runs on real-time ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast) data that aircraft broadcast about once per second to report their position, altitude, speed, and heading. Toasty renders that data as planes on a map centered on your location and updates continuously, so the aircraft on your ceiling always match the real traffic in the sky.
